Living the hard life once again

The Big Trip 1 Comment »

Hello!

Sorry for not posting for so long – I really don’t have an excuse as I still haven’t got a job! Not that I’ve been looking so very hard either :D

Relaxing in the shade

Relaxing in the shade

Last week me and Sooji decided to go on a day out to the zoo, which we were both looking forward to very much. Unfortunately we got a bit lost! After going back and forth on the train and getting some directions from the internet from a friend of Soojis we were still nowhere near the wildlife park and so gave up and stumbled across a giant parkland bird santuary instead.

Not quite a Zoo, but it'll have to do.

We had a good wander around and resolved to go to the zoo again soon!

I got  a taste of what a night out means in Korea too – me, Sooji, Min-Chang and Jehi went out for what was originally an excuse to buy KFC and eat it by the beach, which turned out to be something completely different! We did get KFC (which was delicious) and ate it by the beach over in Cottesloe, but after that we went to a hidden Korean restaurant where we were continually brought more food and bottles of Soju (20% vodka/whisky tupe drink).

After hours playing quite a few original drinking games I was in all honesty pretty drunk, but where in my case feeling in such a state would lead me to head home, it leads my Korean companions to kareoke….

Luckily not too far away there is a place built especially for this situation and we got our own booth and we sang away for hours. :D

Beautiful sky... I have some great pink ones too taken a little later.

The other day I realised that I hadn’t seen a famous Western Australian sunset over the sea yet, and so we went down to the beach toward evening time and played around watching the sky turn some amazing colours. There was a huge front moving in at the time so it wasn’t as spectacular as it often is, but I took some great pictures all the same.

As for the work front – I simply haven’t looked. Haha :D

I’ve become very interested in a possible business partnership with Joe and so have been researching etc quite a lot, but I will have to get a job soon enough… :D

My good friend Yvan who I worked with quad-biking around Banana Land gave me a call today to say he made it to Perth, after a rediculously long journey around Aus and down the West Coast, so I’ll be meeting up with him tommorow to swap stories. Should be good.

We had a sudden heat wave recently too where it was stiffling everywhere – too hot to do anything – apparently it’s only a taste of the summer to come too. I hope alls well at home, keep in touch! :D

Sometimes you’ve just got to quit your job and go to the fair…

Hello everyone!

I quit my job!  Nothing dramatic – there was no much-fantasized rampage around the packing shed throwing apples everywhere, but I quit all the same. I won’t bore you with the details but suffice to say the place was rubbish. J

I’m now just pottering about until Monday when I’ll get back into gear and start the job hunt again, although I’ve already got a couple of possibles.

Last weekend me and Sooji went to the Royal Perth Show which was great fun – although seeing as you had to pay a large fee to get in, and then pay extortionate prices to go on any rides etc it was a bit of a rip-off. I think our view of it was tainted a bit by Sooji’s choice of ride! I chose a decent-sized rollercoaster with a loop-the-loop which was really, really good – but then Sooji’s ride was a Zeus-defying contraption that spun us round and round as well as upside down at different speeds. I suppose we should have realised what we were in for when the operator said ‘You’re gonna wanna take your shoes off mate – or you will lose ‘em’. J

The worst bit was that it would slow down enough so that you could hear everyone sigh and say ‘Thank God that’s over’ only for it to spin up again and whirl us up-side down faster than it had gone before! Needless to say we were both feeling pretty ill afterwards and slowly wobbled our way to the exit.

It wasn’t all bad by any means – I did manage to win Sooji a giant teddy which apparently was the entire point of going to the fair, and also one of those ‘lightning-strikes-twice’ coincidences happened to me again! I was walking down a really busy thoroughfare crammed with people when someone tapped my arm. I almost didn’t look around but it was David Crompton! Again!

Me, Sooji and 'Yellowy' BEFORE the stomach-churning ride! :D

Last time I heard he was in Sydney! We’d already met in ridiculous fashion a few months ago in Airlie beach (on the other side of the continent) when we both happened to be drinking in the same pub. He’s working a little north of Peth and had just popped into the city for the show, so I’ll hopefully be catching up with him again soon.

Yesterday me and Sooji were looking for an excuse to go and eat at the very fancy restaurant where she works, and so we went there after watching G-force (special agent guinea pigs taking down a megalomaniacal billionaire) at the cinema, having decided the occasion was to celebrate our 113th day anniversary. :D

The food was spectacular. The picture below says it all but we had a fantastic spread, and we cooked the selection of meats on a hotplate imbedded in the table. Truly delicious.

Other than all that I’m not doing a great deal, having a few relaxing days after escaping from work, enjoying the sunshine now that the rains have let-up for a while and just generally taking it easy.

I hope all’s well with you, and I’ll try to post more frequently! All the best, Al x
